Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation Inaugurated at MVGR College of Engineering

Vizianagaram | 12 August 2026
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), MVGR College of Engineering, proudly launched the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation on 12 August 2026, inspired by the vision of innovation, scientific curiosity, technological excellence, and nation-building.
The Centre has been established to provide students with a platform to explore emerging technologies, transform ideas into practical projects, and develop innovative solutions through hands-on learning. Reflecting the philosophy of βLearn by Doing,β the Centre encourages students to progress from ideas to projects, projects to prototypes, and prototypes to meaningful innovations.
As part of the initiative, the Centre launched two specialised student clubs:
AERO FORGE β Drone & UAV Club
AERO FORGE focuses on the rapidly evolving fields of drone and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technologies. The club provides students opportunities to explore drone design, autonomous navigation, FPV systems, computer vision, SLAM, aerial mapping, embedded control, and Artificial Intelligence.

Through practical experimentation and project-based learning, students can gain valuable experience in designing and developing intelligent aerial systems.
Β΅CONX β Embedded Systems & IoT Club Β΅CONX is dedicated to embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and smart automation technologies. The club focuses on microcontrollers, sensors, IoT, PCB design, communication protocols, robotics, automation, real-time systems, and embedded AI.
The club aims to encourage students to develop innovative embedded solutions that address real-world challenges while strengthening their technical and problem-solving skills.
The launch of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation marks an important step towards fostering a culture of creativity, experimentation, interdisciplinary learning, and technological innovation among students. The initiative is expected to provide students with opportunities to collaborate, build prototypes, participate in technical competitions, and translate innovative ideas into impactful solutions.Β
The Department of ECE sincerely acknowledges the valuable support and encouragement of Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar, Principal; Dr. D. Ramadevi, Head of the Department, ECE; Dr. TANSN Varma; Dr. Kranthikiran; and all ECE faculty members for their contribution towards establishing and strengthening this innovation-driven initiative.
With the spirit of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's vision, the Centre aspires to inspire students to dream, explore, design, build, and innovate for a better India.
