WEC Organizes Health Awareness Workshop on Women Gynecological Issues at MVGR College of Engineering

The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of MVGR College of Engineering organized a workshop on “Health Awareness on Women Gynecological Issues” on 24 January 2026, aiming to promote awareness and encourage open conversations about women’s health among students.
The session was led by Dr. Ridhima Marupudi, Gynecologist and Obstetrician from Rainbow Children Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, who served as the resource person. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ridhima Marupudi urged students to openly express their health concerns without stigma and highlighted the importance of proper menstrual and intimate hygiene. She elaborated on common gynecological conditions such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), explaining their long-term impact on overall health, and emphasized the need for regular physical activity.
Dr. Ridhima also underlined the significance of mental well-being alongside physical health. She suggested practical self-care strategies including journaling, positive self-talk, and limiting social media usage to support holistic women’s health.
The workshop featured an interactive session that encouraged students to ask questions freely and clarify doubts related to gynecological health. Practical guidance was provided on maintaining hygiene, identifying early symptoms, and seeking timely medical support. The engaging nature of the program helped dispel myths and reduce stigma surrounding women’s health issues.
The event was attended by Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar, Principal, MVGR College of Engineering, Dr. M. Sarah Kamala Kumari, Women Empowerment Cell Coordinator, WEC Coordinators from various departments, faculty members, and girl students. The program concluded with appreciation for the resource person and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting awareness and well-being among students.
