INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MVGR

The Women Empowerment Cell of MVGR celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme of "Invest in women: Accelerate progress" on Wednesday. For this event, Prof. G. Jaya Suma, Registrar, JNTU-GV-Vizianagaram invited as CHIEF GUEST, and Ms. M. Vijaya, Scientist-G, NSTL, Visakhapatnam invited as GUEST OF HONOR. Chief Guest, Jaya Suma shared information about women in leadership roles and the challenges they faced, including the amount of leaves they receive in the workplace. She also talked about the different contributions made by men and women in the same household, particularly in terms of work done from home situations. Guest of Honor, Vijaya talked about the discrimination that girls face in rural areas. She highlighted how some individuals missed out on opportunities due to favoritism towards certain groups. She discussed the disparity in the opportunities available to educated individuals and tribal people. At last, prizes were distributed for all the winners of events like Essay writing, TED Talk, Dance Competition and Project Expo conducted as a part of womens day celebrations. In this program, Dr. R. Ramesh, Principal-MVGR, Dr. YMC Sekhar, Vice-Prinicpal-MVGR, Prof. P.U.K Prabha, WEC-Coordinator, WEC Department Coordinators, Women staff, and all girl and boy students were present.
