MVGR College Hosts Hands-on FDP on AI Tools in Teaching
Vizianagaram, February 14, 2025 – A two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled "AI Tools in Teaching" was successfully conducted on February 11th and 14th, 2025, organized by the Centre for Software Systems Development (CSSD) at MVGR College of Engineering (A). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 35 doctors and teaching professionals from Maharajah Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), eager to explore AI-driven advancements in education.
The FDP focused on various AI-powered software applications designed for language modeling, content comprehension, presentation generation, interactive quizzing, blog creation, and flyer design. Participants engaged actively, demonstrating excitement over the creative possibilities offered by AI, while also being cautioned about its potential advantages and drawbacks in their respective fields.
Mrs. K. Sobha Rani, Professor, CSE, and Mr. D. Nagendra Kumar, Associate Professor, IT, served as resource persons, providing hands-on demonstrations of AI applications aimed at enhancing productivity for medical professionals. The sessions underscored how AI could save valuable time and improve skillsets in academia and healthcare.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Y.M.C. Sekhar, Vice Principal, MVGR, and Dr. P. Neelima, Vice Principal, MIMS, extended their best wishes and emphasized the importance of collaborations between doctors and engineers for academic and research advancements. The event was effectively coordinated by Dr. TANSN Varma, Professor, ECE, MVGR, and Dr. R. Havilah Twinkle, Professor, Physiology, MIMS, ensuring seamless communication and infrastructure support.
The successful FDP marked a significant step towards integrating AI into the teaching-learning process, paving the way for innovative educational methodologies and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations between medical and engineering institutions.
